To be Hunted / Fasting

My former employer called me a while back. They want me back after having laid me off along with 2/3 of the workforce at that data center. Now the management who made that faux pas is gone and they're re-hiring some that used to work there. Never burn bridges. If you must leave an employer, always leave them wanting more. It's helped me many times. Now, because I don't need a job, it's the best time to look for one. To help me decide between the two companies I created a spreadsheet. Down the left side I listed the features that one or both companies have, like Opportunity for Advancement, Pay rate, Benefits, Commute, Team Cohesion and the like. I gave each a weight according to how important it was to me and then rated each company on a scale of 1-10 on how well they do with that feature. Some features got a high score but weren't that important to me, so their rating was relatively low. Other more important features were weighted to reflect that. Any difference between the companies on these points would be more pronounced. I could adjust the numbers to fit various scenarios, such as that of being hired on permanently. Since I'm still Limited-Term here, various benefits and job security are also limited. Although it showed pretty decidedly that I'd be better off moving back to my old company, Wendy and I thought it should still be a matter of fasting and prayer. Therefore, I'm fasting today.

Fasting is much different on a weekday than on a Sunday. My typical work day is replete with snacking as the day advances. My whole routine, I find, is filled with satisfying little alimentary urges, be they a simple drink of water or indulging on chips or sweets. The noon hour is also filled with the aroma of the lunches of others fresh from the microwave. It's easy to see, now, the reason my girth is more than I would prefer. Fasting offers many benefits, not the least of which is an awareness of our over-indulgence. I'm mainly looking for the inspirational benefits today, but I'll take the other ones.
